The Heart Chakra is the 4th chakra, located at the centre of the seven chakras in the full system. It is where the physical and spiritual come together. Located at the exact centre of the chest, it corresponds not only to the heart but your lungs & thymus gland.
In Sanskrit, it is referred to as the Anahata which means unhurt, the spiritual place where past experiences and grievances cannot harm us. The Anahata Chakra is associated with the colour green: transformation & unconditional love energy.
We will have all experienced extremes of pleasure & pain in this space over the years. But I know yoga really can help to reconcile the experiences of life that may manifest at the heart centre in terms of feelings of love, loss, isolation, loneliness, grief & rejection.
The main way to heal the Heart Chakra is to change your perspective, essentially shifting your frame of mind from one that is always focused on the things that you don’t like, changing that perspective to one that is full of gratitude, even for the more challenging experiences. Having a regular yoga practice has helped many people shift perspective, see the bigger picture & heal their heart. Meditation is a such a powerful tool here.
Our studio owners this month will be providing heart-opening focused classes in their own classes.
