Learn more about Yoga

Our Classes

Yoga is an ancient practice which today is as popular as ever! Yoga involves a combination of movement and breathing to create a sense of calm and relaxation while improving fitness and flexibility. Yoga is suitable for men and women. You can start at six weeks old or aged 88 it doesn’t matter!

Yoga Basics

This class is designed for beginners or those looking to get back to basics.

A simple, no nonsense, yoga class where you will work with all the major muscle groups and try many of the basic postures with a guided relaxation at the end. Suitable for complete beginners.

Hatha Yoga

Haṭha yoga is an umbrella term covering the style of yoga practised in most Western yoga classes. In our hatha yoga classes you will practice holding postures, called asanas, to work on muscle strength, flexibility and balance and connect your mind with your body. Suitable for all levels of yoga experience our highly trained teachers will offer variations for you to get the most out of your practice.

Yoga Flow

Vinyasa is the Sanskrit Word for “flow” and these classes are known for their fluid, movement-intensive practices. Sandstone Yoga Flow classes flow smoothly, transitioning from pose to pose, with intensity building at a pace suitable for all students. This class is particularly suitable for students who dislike predictability and routine and want to build their physical capabilities.

Yin Yoga

Yin yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga with poses that are held for longer periods of time from two to five minutes. Yin yoga poses apply moderate stress to the tendons, fascia, and ligaments in the body to create the benefits of increased circulation in the joints and improved flexibility. A more meditative approach to yoga, yin aims to slow the mind down.

Hatha Yoga & Yoga Nidra

Enjoy 50 minutes of a traditional, Hatha based yoga with asanas & sequences to help ease out stresses & tensions, followed by 25 minutes of yoga nidra. Yoga Nidra is a powerful meditation technique that promotes deep rest and relaxation. This class is suitable for all.

Gentle Yoga

This is a class designed to gently build strength and stretch the body. Likely to be suitable for anyone with a non-acute knee or back injury seeking to build their flexibility and strength in a gentle way.

Forrest Style Yoga

Forrest yoga is a style of yoga adapted to modern society, created and named for Ana T. Forrest in 1982. Forrest Style Yoga classes begin with Pranayama, or breathing exercises, then move through seated poses and abdominal strength exercises before arriving at the “hot” section of the class. This may involve sun salutations, standing poses, backbends and building strength in a safe and accessible way as you work towards safely practising inversions and arm balances.

Highly Recommend

Louise has had the MASSIVE challenge of making pregnancy yoga accessible through lockdown and beyond. I started the classes on zoom and Louise really thought about accessibility and opened to studio making it safe but continued to provide access online due to capacity limitations. The class is focused on wellbeing for both baby and i and preparing for birth. The classes are professional well prepared and thoroughly enjoyable. HIGHLY RECOMMEND ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
